What is the difference between Reseller and Affiliate?

The difference between a reseller and an affiliate is that the affiliate is selling our services as an individual or company, usually by just talking about and linking to our site so that the new customer is 100% ours, we have all responsibility for looking after the customer. We then pay a referral or affiliate fee to the person/company that linked to us. This is done automatically, as the link used contains a cookie that is used to track the sale and where it came from.

There is no minimum outlay or cost to becoming an affiliate apart from accepting the terms and conditions. Anyone can become an affiliate by activating it in their control panel.

A Reseller is a company (or an individual) who buys services from us and then resells them on (usually at a profit) to others. Whist we have certain rules for selling our products and services to others, it is a business model that is seen in every industry and can be very beneficial to end users. The Reseller company will usually look after the end user customer as their own and use us for support where needed. We will not usually interact with the end user, unless asked by the reseller. This gives full control of the customer to the reseller.

Basic Reseller accounts can be activated in your control panel. The basic accounts have a few terms and conditions that you must accept in order to proceed. The basic reseller program allows you to buy and sell our services with a discount. This discount gets bigger the more services you buy. You can buy the discounted services for yourself or your clients, which you can resell at your chosen price point. You can choose your own selling price. Furthermore, you can also give direct cPanel Access to any of the cPanel or other hosting accounts that you order to sell. However, you do not have access to a billing control panel at this point.

If and when you are ready to upgrade to a more serious plan, or if you have a need to use a billing platform, then get in touch, and we will help you to upgrade. At this level, you will have a WHM account with us. This allows you to create your own hosting plans and set the limits for all the resources. This is a very cost-effective way of getting this type of business off the ground and is used by a lot of web design agencies as a cost-effective way of hosting the websites they create for their customers. We can provide professional support where needed. When you out-grow this level, we will help you to transition on to your own servers.

You can see our current Reseller accounts, and you can sign up to them automatically. We will be in touch to see how much help and support you would like.
