What is Web Hosting (Hosting)?

Which Hosting Product Should I Choose?

There are different ways to approach this. You can either look at the budget and decide from there, or you can look at the amount of resources you need. The easiest way is to first look at what your website is used for. Personal website for friends and family, then the Lite option is probably best to start with. If you are a club, or professional person or small business, then maybe the professional account is for you. You can always upgrade at any time. If you are a business then the Business account is for you, It comes with the most resources. We also do a "Managed" version of all these accounts. Managed business accounts also have no space or bandwidth limits.

How are Hosting Prices Determined?

Hosting prices are determined by the resources that are allocated to your account and the licence fees that are required to paid to third parties. We need to cover all our costs in providing you with the very best services.

When will my hosting service be activated?

Most accounts are activated within immediately, however it can take up to an hour and in some cases it can take up to 48 hours. If additional checks are required, or ID documents to prove your/your business identity, then it will be activated as soon as the verification process has been completed. Propagation of domain name records and DNS servers changes can take up to 48 hours to propagate. This is due to the way the internet works, and we can not generally speed this up. We can, in certain cases, when transferring to our services, help to reduce this time by make changes days in advance of the move. Please contact us if you require assistance to move your website and require it to happen with no downtime and with little lag time between servers.

Do I pay any hidden fees?

We don't like hidden fees, so we try really hard not to have any hidden fees. All our fees are easily accessible. All our add-ons and extras have their prices clearly shown. Our hosting accounts are designed to suit the relevant type of customer, so you shouldn't need anything extra and can run your site with the allocation. I want to transfer my website to you. Do you do this?

You can transfer your website to our servers, and we can help you to achieve this as well. We generally do this for free. We are very experienced in move WordPress websites and other MySQL based sites as well as flat file structure sites, so if you are unsure then get in touch, and we can help.

Which scripts are compatible with your server?

We have not really run in to any that are not compatible. We generally optimise for WordPress as this is the most popular, but others will work, and you can make adjustments to the PHP setup in your account as you need. We recommend that you test your website first before making the DNS changes. Not only that, but we can help to achieve this, if you require assistance then get in touch.

What is free SSL?

Free SSL certificates are provided to all our hosting customers. They are domain validated by an automated system which renews them every 3 months. They provide only the basic security to you and your visitors, and no validation of who you are. For enhanced security and to provide visitors with higher validity of who you are, then we recommend that you upgrade to a paid SSL certificate.

name@youremaildomain.co.uk Can I get an email address like this?

Our hosting accounts all come with a certain number of email accounts. The number of accounts depends on the account you have chosen. Those email accounts can have any "name" (which can also have a dot in it. EG firstname.surname) and will always end with your domain name, EG @youremaildomain.co.uk. you also have a catch-all address which you can configure to your liking.

Do you perform the backup operation?

We back up the server daily. This is just in case the server has an issue, and we need to preform disaster recovery on some different hardware. You can back up your own account using the settings in the control panel. This will back up all the web directories that you specify in your account so that you can recover from mistakes or hacking at a later stage. We also provide some additional space on a different server to back up on to (additional costs apply for this service). This gives you peace of mind that your web assets are backed up safe and secure away from the main server. You can add this in to your WordPress backup and have that as a separate backup.

Are the FREE Hosting Accounts really FREE?

Yes. We provide FREE hosting and a FREE limited Website that will always be FREE. You can choose to upgrade it if you want, but we will not force you to do so. You can keep the FREE hosting and FREE website for Life.;

What are the FREE Hosting and Website good for?

There are many reasons to have a FREE website. You could use it as a stepping stone, while you are creating your more expensive site, you could allow people to have basic information about you and start/continue trading. If you don't have the need for a fully functional website and just need a couple of static pages, then a FREE site is great. They are also great for development sites, that are not ready to "go live" as your main site.

What support do you provide for the FREE hosting and websites?

We do not generally provide support for the FREE hosting and Websites, although you can submit a ticket, it will be lower down the priority than our paid hosting. You can also get help on the Forums (https://itforum.website) and we frequently visit there and actively engage with our users.
